A Phoenix Small Business Website Checklist

Most of what wins the call is not design. It is whether the page answers how far you drive, when you answer, and what you charge.

Say how far across the Valley you actually go

"Serving the Valley" is not a service area. Phoenix alone is 518 square miles, and the metro keeps going in every direction. Someone in Queen Creek has no idea whether a shop that photographs like Arcadia will drive out.

Name the boundary the way you dispatch it. Inside the 101. Anything within forty minutes of the shop. West Valley on scheduled work only. A clear boundary kills the calls you were going to decline anyway.

Put the ROC number where it belongs

Arizona requires licensed contractors to include the Registrar of Contractors license number in advertising, and a website is advertising. Leaving it off is both a compliance problem and a trust problem.

Put it in the footer of every page rather than on an about page nobody opens. Customers who check are the ones who pay on time.

Answer the summer question before they ask

From June through September, half the calls in this town are about air conditioning, pool equipment, or something the heat broke. The customer wants to know how fast you get there.

Say it plainly. Same-day for no-cool calls. Two-hour window. After-hours until ten with a fee. Vagueness in July reads as a no.

Write for monsoon damage

Microbursts take shingles and tiles off, push water under foam roofs, drop trees onto fences, and fill washes fast enough to close roads.

If you do storm work, that belongs on the site before the season, not after the first one. People search for it the same night it happens.

Say who is here in January

Winter visitors change the customer base for months. Salons, med spas, home watch, pool service, and repair trades all see a different book from October to April.

If you take seasonal accounts, closing checks, or home-watch work, say so. The people looking for that are searching from somewhere else, months ahead.

Write the Spanish pages properly

A translate widget is not a Spanish page. It cannot rank and it mangles trade vocabulary.

Real Spanish pages, written and indexed, are a meaningful share of this market and almost nobody in your category has bothered.

Use photos of desert houses

A generic kitchen tells a customer nothing. A tile roof repair on a stucco house with a block wall tells them you have done their exact job on their exact house.

Phone photos are fine. Shoot early or late so the sun is not blowing out the highlights, and keep the ones showing failed condenser finished rather than mid-job.

Put a number next to the services

"Nothing signals expensive quite like refusing to name a figure. A floor price, a band, a typical ticket, or a fixed call-out fee is enough for somebody to commit.

Shops that publish bands field fewer enquiries and win a bigger share of them, because everyone who dials has already made peace with the price.

Make the listing and the site agree

Your Google Business Profile and your site should match on hours, service area, categories, and phone. When they disagree the listing wins and the site looks abandoned, monsoon season or not.

Check it whenever the season turns and the hours change.
