Google Business Profile Basics for Phoenix Businesses

Far more people read your listing than ever reach your homepage. Where the two disagree, the listing is the one they believe.

The primary category does the work

Almost all your visibility hangs off that one primary category. Reaching for something broad to stay flexible is the usual path to showing up for nothing.

Pick the one matching the work you want more of, add secondaries, and revisit when the mix changes with the season.

Service area or address, not both by accident

Shops publish the address. Mobile trades draw a radius and hide it. An address on a unit nobody sits in collects reviews from people who found the door locked.

Keep the area honest. Listing every city in Maricopa County dilutes the listing and brings calls you decline.

Hours that match the summer schedule

Plenty of Valley trades start at five in summer to get roof work done before the heat. If the listing says eight, the listing is wrong.

Set special hours for holidays too, and for the weeks the shop closes.

Photos, recent and real

A listing carrying recent job photos pulls more taps than one showing a logo and a stock image. Three or four a month beats a single annual upload.

Show the storefront and the parking, and shoot outdoors early or late so the images are not blown out.

Send each service to its own page

Pointing every listing at the homepage wastes the click. A tap about AC repair should land on the AC repair page.

Same for areas. A search naming Ahwatukee should land on the Ahwatukee page with Ahwatukee details on it.

Ask for reviews at the right moment

When the job is done and the house is cold again, in person, link ready. Not a mass email three weeks later.

Answer every one, the harsh ones included, and write for the stranger reading it half a year from now. That person is the actual audience.
